Motorcyclist Killed in Crash with 13-Year-Old Driver in Covington County, Alabama

COVINGTON COUNTY, AL. – According to news stories reported online at and, a motorcyclist was killed in a crash with a 13-year-old driver in Covington County, Alabama. The cause of the accident has not yet been determined, and Alabama authorities have not said whether charges will be filed.

The crash occurred on the evening of April 10 at an intersection in Covington County. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports that at approximately 6:10 p.m., a 2004 Harley Davidson motorcycle crashed into a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee at the intersection of County Road 49 and County Road 70. 

It is not clear how the accident occurred. Neither news report included information about the circumstances leading to the collision or factors involved in the accident. It is not clear what direction each of the vehicles was traveling. 

Both news reports state that the motorcyclist was critically injured in the wreck, and emergency responders called in a medical helicopter. Authorities and both news reports say the motorcyclist was then airlifted to Ft. Walton Beach Medical Center, where he tragically died of his injuries. He was identified as a 35-year-old man from Andalusia, Alabama.

It is unclear if the driver of the Jeep was injured in the accident. The news reports said that investigators found that he or she was 13 years old. They did not say whether any passengers were in the Jeep. 

Alabama authorities are still in the process of investigating the wreck. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency did not say whether charges would be filed against the 13-year-old driver.
