Three Injured in Crash After Vehicle Runs Red Light in Miramar Beach, Florida
MIRAMAR BEACH, FL. – According to an online news report from thedestinlog.com, three people were injured in a crash after a vehicle ran a red light in Miramar Beach, Florida. The three injured people were transported away from the scene for emergency treatment at local hospitals, according to the report.*
The accident took place on Thursday, April 11, on U.S. Highway 98 in Miramar Beach. Florida Highway Patrol and The Destin Log report that a Toyota SUV (model not reported) that was traveling west on U.S. 98 ran a red light at the intersection of the highway and Sandestin Lane. In running the red light, the Toyota entered into oncoming traffic that had the right-of-way.
The front of the Toyota then crashed into the driver’s side of another vehicle (make and model not reported) that was attempting a left turn from Sandestin Lane onto U.S. 98 East. It is not clear from the report by The Destin Log why the driver of the Toyota failed to stop at the red light. Troopers issued a citation to this driver at the scene.
The Destin Log reports that the driver of the second vehicle and a passenger in that vehicle were injured in the accident, as was the driver of the Toyota. The two drivers were identified as a 34-year-old woman from Panama City, Florida (second vehicle), and a 29-year-old woman from Santa Rosa Beach, Florida (Toyota). The passenger was identified as being 34 years old.
The Toyota driver and the passenger reportedly sustained minor injuries. The driver of the second vehicle sustained serious injuries. They were all three taken to hospitals for treatment. The two with minor injuries went to Sacred Heart Hospital, and the other driver went to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center.
