Driver Hits Vehicle, Leaves Scene in Ocala, Florida
OCALA, FL. – According to an online news story posted by wctv.com, a driver hit another vehicle and then left the scene in Ocala, Florida. The accident caused serious injuries to two people and significant damage to their vehicle. Authorities are still searching for the missing driver and are asking for help from the public.*
The report from WCTV does not specify the time of the accident, but it occurred on Pine Road in Ocala. Florida Highway Patrol indicates that a black pickup truck was traveling on Pine Trace toward Pine Road, and the driver ran a stop sign at the intersection of the two roads.
Another vehicle that was traveling south on Pine Road entered the intersection at the same time and collided with the pickup, according to WCTV and Troopers. After impact, the southbound vehicle rolled onto its roof. The driver of the black pickup did not stop after the collision but fled the scene.
WCTV reports that two people inside the other vehicle were seriously injured, and emergency responders took them to Ocala Regional Medical Center for treatment. Their current medical statuses were not reported. The driver of that vehicle was identified as a 68-year-old man from Ocala, and the passenger was identified as a 60-year-old woman from Ocala.
Florida Highway Patrol is still looking for the missing truck and driver. Troopers reported that the truck was carrying furniture in the bed when the accident happened, and it likely sustained damaged to the front. Pieces of the truck were found at the scene.
