The crash occurred on Jones Mill Road according to Georgia State Patrol and the Statesboro Herald. At about 6 a.m. that morning, Troopers from Georgia State Patrol Post 56 were called to the scene of a vehicle accident at Jones Mill Road and Lester Road.

Investigators report that a 2008 Chevrolet Impala was traveling west on Jones Mill Road and came to a curve near Lester Road. The Statesboro Herald and Georgia State Patrol report that the driver of the Chevy was fatally injured in the collision, and he died at the scene. He was identified by investigators as a 34-year-old man from Statesboro. It does not appear that any passengers were in the Chevy when the crash occurred.
