April 15, 2019

DOTHAN, AL – According to WSFA 12 NBC News, a 45-year-old man has been charged with multiple crimes for causing an accident that left one person dead and another critically injured.*

On the evening of April 5, 2019, two pickup trucks collided in a drunk driving accident, leaving the driver of one pickup truck dead and his passenger critically injured.  At around 11:20 p.m., a 57-year-old man was driving north near the intersection of Main Street and North Woodburn Drive in Dothan, Alabama.  The man was driving a 2014 Ford F-150 with one passenger.  The man was then struck by a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado, which was driven by a 45-year-old man that was later found to be driving under the influence of alcohol.

The accident was catastrophic, and according to the Dothan Chief of Police, the 57-year-old victim was in critical condition upon the arrival of law enforcement. However, the man later died of his injuries.  His passenger sustained critical injuries and is being treated at a local hospital.

The 45-year-old man responsible for causing this drunk driving accident was recently charged with multiple crimes, including (1) manslaughter, (2) first degree assault, and (3) driving under the influence.  The man is currently being held at the Houston County Jail awaiting further court proceedings.

Drunk driving accidents continue to take the lives of thousands of innocent victims throughout the United States.  Despite efforts to reduce the incidence of drunk driving, some people continue to risk not only their lives, but also the lives of other drivers, passengers, and pedestrians by getting behind the wheel drunk.
