Sheriff’s Deputy Injured in Vehicle Crash in Wakulla County, Florida

WAKULLA COUNTY, FL. – According to a news report published online at, a sheriff’s deputy was seriously injured in a vehicle crash that took place in Wakulla County, Florida. The crash also caused serious injuries to another driver, according to the news report.*

The crash occurred in the late evening on April 10 on Crawford Highway in Wakulla County. Florida Highway Patrol and WTXL report that a Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office deputy was traveling in the area of Crawford Highway and State Road 267 shortly before midnight. At the intersection of the two roadways, the deputy’s patrol truck collided with a Ford F-350.

After impact, the F-350 ran off the side of the road, and the patrol truck struck a utility pole. It is not yet clear how the crash happened. Florida Highway Patrol did not immediately provide information about the circumstances leading to the collision or the nature of the accident.

WTXL reports that the deputy was trapped in his vehicle after the accident, and both he and the F-350 driver were seriously injured. Emergency responders took both to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital for treatment. 

The deputy was identified as a 30-year-old man, and the driver of the F-350 was identified as a 21-year-old man from Tallahassee, Florida. Their current medical conditions were not included in the report from WTXL. 

The impact with the utility pole caused a traffic light at Crawford Highway and Bloxham Cutoff Road to lose power, and crews repaired it during the early hours of April 11. Florida Highway Patrol Troopers are still in the process of investigating the collision. No statement from the sheriff’s office was included in the WTXL report.
