Man Killed in Two-Vehicle Wreck in Aiken County, South Carolina
AIKEN COUNTY, SC. – According to a news story posted online at wrdw.com, a man was killed in a two-vehicle wreck in Aiken County, South Carolina. Authorities responding to the scene have not immediately reported the cause of the accident, but the news report says one of the drivers crossed over the centerline of the road.*
The Aiken County Coroner’s Office and WRDW report that a vehicle crash happened that night on Highway 19 in Aiken County at approximately 11:20 p.m. Authorities reported that in the area of Reynolds Pond Road, the driver of a vehicle drifted over the centerline of the roadway.
The vehicle entered traffic traveling in the opposite direction and drove into the path of another vehicle. The two vehicles then collided. No explanation for the accident or the driver’s leaving a lane of travel was reported in the WRDW story. Vehicle descriptions were not reported, and it is not clear what direction the vehicles were traveling.
WRDW reports that the driver of the vehicle that was struck suffered fatal injuries in the accident. The Aiken County Coroner’s Office identified him as a 60-year-old man. The coroner did not say where the victim lived.
The driver of the other vehicle and a passenger in that vehicle were injured in the accident, WRDW reported. They were not identified in the report. WRDW said the extent of their injuries and current conditions were not known.
Authorities are still investigating the wreck at this time. The WRDW report did not say whether charges were anticipated.
