Georgia Man Faces Charges After Fleeing From Police and Causing an Accident That Injured Three People
WALTHOURVILLE, GA – As reported by www.onlineathens.com, a 36-year-old man is facing multiple criminal charges after causing a car accident that resulted in injuries to three people, and then subsequently fleeing police on foot with his child.*
A 36-year-old Ohio man was arrested and charged with fleeing or attempting to allude a police officer as well as reckless driving. The man allegedly fled from a traffic stop and led police on a chase that resulted in an accident. The accused man left the scene of the traffic stop and swerved into oncoming traffic, colliding with another vehicle which resulted in injuries to two women and a state trooper. The man then fled the scene of the accident on foot with his children, and both were found walking along Highway 84.
The police later searched the man’s home and discovered a marijuana grow operation. Whether the man will face drug charges in addition to charges related to the accident he caused is unclear as the investigation is still ongoing. For example, he may face a charge of fleeing the scene of an accident as well as assault for the injuries sustained by the three victims.
Police will seek to determine why the man fled the traffic stop and why he fled the scene of the accident he caused. Given the man had a marijuana grow operation in his home, he may have sought to avoid police for this very reason. However, his conduct has made the situation much worse, as he caused harm to three other individuals, including a police officer.
