Woman Killed in Vehicle Crash in Rockdale County, Georgia
ROCKDALE COUNTY, GA. – According to an online news report from onlineathens.com, a woman was killed in a vehicle crash in Rockdale County, Georgia. Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the accident but have released identifying information about the victim, according to the report.*
The accident took place in the morning on Georgia Highway 138 in Rockdale County. The Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office and the Athens Banner-Herald report that at about 9:30 a.m., two vehicles were traveling on Ga. 138 and somehow collided near the intersection with Dial Mill Road. One of the vehicles traveled down a steep embankment after the collision.
No information about the cause of the crash or the events leading to the crash was reported. The Athens Banner-Herald stated that it was a near-head-on collision and happened close to Walnut Grove and the border with Walton County, Georgia.
The Athens Banner-Herald states that the driver of the one of the vehicles was fatally injured in the accident. Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Yolande Moore said emergency responders did everything they could to save the victim, who was identified as a 39-year-old woman from Bishop, Georgia.
“If you had been there, you would have been touched to see how well and how hard everyone worked to save her,” Moore said.
A woman and child in the other vehicle were also injured, the Athens Banner-Herald reported, and they were taken to hospitals in Atlanta, Georgia. They were not identified, and the extent of their injuries is not known. The accident is still under investigation.
