Seventeen-Year-Old Perishes in Accident While On Her Way to Work
TAMPA, FL – According to an online news report at wfla.com, the local sheriff’s office has indicated that a seventeen year old female tragically succumbed to her injuries after she was struck while on a skateboard on her way to work during the early morning hours.*
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office reports that a seventeen year old woman succumbed to her injuries as she was skateboarding to work before 7:00 a.m. She was skateboarding in the bike lane close to South Gornto Lake Road and Providence Lakes Road.
According to local officials, the young woman was wearing dark clothing at the time of the crash. It appears from the accident report that the woman was skateboarding in the fog line that is a separate lane from the other lanes in the roadway. The driver failed to see her, and hit the young woman in the right front passenger part of the car.
The victim was a junior at a local high school in Riverview, Florida. While the school was closed and school officials prepared to offer crisis response therapists to help affected students following news of the accident. The school reopened the following day.
There are no further details on the accident at this time. The crash remains under investigation. It is not clear whether charges will be filed in this case.
