Pawleys Island Fireman/EMT dies After Motorcycle Accident

PAWYEYS ISLAND, S.C. – According to an online news reports at and, A Pawleys Island fireman/EMT succumbs to his injuries in a motorcycle accident on United States Highway 17.*

The man, a twenty nine year old, was a firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) for Midway Fire Rescue for 2 years.  He was killed in an accident in Myrtle Beach.  After the accident, the fireman was taken to the Grand Strand Regional Trauma Center where several days after the accident, he died while in the ICU.

"It is with extreme sadness that we have to inform you that firefighter Daniel Roy has passed away," per the  Midway Fire Rescue on Friday afternoon. A gofundme page has been set up for the family of the fireman.

The Midway Fire Chief stated in a press release that the man killed was from McDonough, Georgia and Midway Fire Chief said in a release that the victim, who was from McDonough, Ga., "will always be remembered as a firefighter's firefighter. Daniel's motivation, enthusiasm, and dedication to the Midway community and our organization will be missed every day.”

The fireman was known to be a highly motivated and hard worker, always striving to reach his goals and improve himself.  Fellow firefighters and EMTs have stated that the entire fire rescue department will miss him terribly. 

The Chief of the Midway Fire Department has requested that both the fire department and family receive as much privacy as they grieve the loss of their beloved coworker and beloved family member.

There are no further details on the accident at this time, which remains under investigation by local authorities.
