New Jersey Man on Motorcycle Killed in Bike Week Crash on Interstate 95 in Brevard County, Florida

April 03, 2019

BREVARD COUNTY, FL — A speeding driver killed the family of a 64-year-old man from Manahawkin, New Jersey on Interstate 95 in Brevard County, Florida. According to the Barnegat-Manahawkin Patch, the speeding motorist plowed into the 64-year-old motorcycle rider around 7:45 a.m. The motorcycle enthusiast was in Florida to enjoy Daytona Bike Week with his son and some friends. Sadly, the man never arrived. Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol continue to investigate the deadly accident. They have not issued charges at this point. *

A devastated family mourned the death of a loved one they said died doing what he loved most, and that was riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. The man who died tragically last Sunday was a businessman in New Jersey whose two favorite past-times were riding his motorcycle and fishing. Sadly, the man’s life was cut short by a 21-year-old motorist from Titusville, Florida who was speeding and driving aggressively. The 21-year-old slammed into the back of the motorcycle and sent the bike off of the highway and into a tree. Florida Highway Patrol troopers said that the motorcycle caught fire but was quickly extinguished.

The investigating troopers have not issued criminal charges to the 21-year-old driver at this time. The troopers reported that they would complete the accident reconstruction investigation before deciding on what, if any charges, they will bring against the motor vehicle operator.

The man who was killed was an experienced motorcycle rider. He had been riding for 13 years before his untimely death. According to his family, as reported by the Patch, the man left his home in New Jersey when the temperature was a bone-chilling 13 degrees to head to Florida.

The 64-year-old motorcycle rider who died left behind his wife of 44 years, their two children, and several grandchildren.
