Tragic, Fatal Three Vehicle Accident on United States Highway 501 in Conway, South Carolina

CONWAY AREA, SC – According to an online news report at, a person has died in an accident that also injured three other individuals, following a three vehicle accident on United States Highway 501.*

One person is fatally injured and three others face injuries who were taken to an area hospital after a three vehicle accident on United States Highway 501.  

A woman from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina died as a result of her injuries, according to the Horry County deputy coroner.  The woman was a resident of Myrtle Beach for approximately twenty years. 

Two cars were heading northbound on Wednesday evening on Highway 501 and crashed into one another, crossing over the double yellow line. The vehicles then hit a 2008 Mustang that was travelling southbound.  The woman who was driving the Mustang tragically succumbed to her injuries from the crash.  

The drivers of the other vehicles, a 2017 Nissan Altima and a 2007 Mercedes were transported to area hospitals with injuries.  Their identification has not been made public. There are no further details on their condition at this time.

The crash occurred shortly after 7:00 p.m. on United States Highway 501 and Wonderland Road.  

Three crash victims were transported to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center and one other victim was transported to Conway Medical Center. Two people became trapped in their vehicles as a result of the accident.

Luckily, emergency personnel were able to extract the victims who were entrapped in their vehicles, per the Horry County Fire Rescue Squad.  The South Carolina Highway Patrol, the Conway Fire Rescue Squad, and the Conway police all aided in the crash.

All lanes of Highway 501 Southbound were closed due to the accident. Lanes eventually reopened on Wednesday evening.
