Motorcyclist Killed in Vehicle Collision in Pasco County, Florida
PASCO COUNTY, FL. – According to a news story reported online at theledger.com, a motorcyclist was killed in a vehicle collision in Pasco County, Florida. The crash happened on U.S. Highway 301 and involved the motorcycle and a pickup truck. Another person riding on the motorcycle was seriously injured in the accident.*
The crash happened in the evening on March 10 at the crossing of U.S. Highway 301 and Pioneer Museum Road in Pasco County. Florida Highway Patrol and The Ledger report that at approximately 8:30 p.m., a 2005 Kawasaki Ninja Zx was approaching the intersection, when a pickup truck pulled into the bike’s path.
The truck (make and model not reported) had reportedly been stopped at a stop sign and proceeded into the intersection while the motorcycle was oncoming. Troopers indicate the front of the motorcycle struck the rear driver’s side of the pickup truck.
The Ledger reports that the driver of the motorcycle sustained severe injuries, and officials responding to the scene pronounced him deceased. He was identified as a man from Dade City, Florida. His age was not reported.
Florida Highway Patrol states that a passenger who was riding on the motorcycle was seriously injured and transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa, Florida. The Ledger report says the passenger, a 20-year-old woman from Dade City, is in critical condition.
The driver of the truck, a 30-year-old man from Dade City, was not injured in the crash, the news report says. Florida Highway Patrol Troopers are still investigating the accident, and they had not released further information at the time of The Ledger’s report.
