Pedestrian Struck, Killed by Vehicle in Spartanburg County, South Carolina
SPARTANBURG COUNTY, SC. – According to an online news report posted at foxcarolina.com, a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. The victim has been identified, and South Carolina Highway Patrol has reportedly indicated that the driver of the vehicle will not be charged.*
The accident took place in the late evening on South Carolina Highway 417 in Spartanburg County. South Carolina Highway Patrol responded to the scene near Reidville, South Carolina, at about 9:45 p.m. that day on a report of a pedestrian accident. Troopers and Fox Carolina report that a northbound vehicle struck a man who was walking along SC 417.
The report from Fox Carolina did not indicate whether the pedestrian was walking in a northbound lane of travel or was walking on the shoulder of the highway. It is unclear from the report how the accident took place.
Fox Carolina states that the pedestrian was fatally injured in the collision, and the Spartanburg County Coroner’s Officer pronounced him deceased at the scene.
