March 16, 2019

SEMINOLE COUNTY, FL. – According to a news story reported online by clickorlando.com, authorities have released new information about a fatal four-vehicle crash that took place in Seminole County, Florida. One motorcyclist died in the accident, according to news reports, and one motorcyclist suffered critical injuries.*

The accident happened on Interstate 4 in Seminole County at about 12:30 a.m. on March 11. ClickOrlando reports that the events started with a rear-end crash between two cars near Lake Mary Boulevard, which sent both cars crashing into two motorcycles on the interstate.

Florida Highway Patrol and ClickOrlando report that a 2006 Infiniti was traveling east on I-4 and crashed into the back of a 2017 Audi. Troopers indicated that the rear-end crash occurred when the Infiniti driver did not slow down for traffic ahead. The impact sent both the Infiniti and the Audi into another lane of the interstate, where they collided with two motorcycles, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

According to the report, emergency responders transported one of the motorcyclists, a 44-year-old man from Indiana, to Central Florida Regional Medical Center with critical injuries. Troopers and ClickOrlando report that the other motorcyclist, a 28-year-old woman from Indiana, sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.

The driver of the Audi, a 69-year-old woman from Longwood, Florida, was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries, according to Florida Highway Patrol. The driver of the Infiniti, a 37-year-old man from Orlando, Florida, was not injured, Troopers said. Troopers added that charges were pending against the Infiniti driver.

The crash had all eastbound lanes of I-4 blocked for nearly eight hours. The interstate reopened at approximately 8 a.m. that day.
