Man in Critical Condition After Vehicle Accident in Jacksonville, Florida

JACKSONVILLE, FL. – According to a news report posted online at, a man is in critical condition after a vehicle accident in Jacksonville, Florida. It appears from witness information cited in the news report that a driver caused the accident and left the scene. Florida Highway Patrol is investigating.* 

The vehicle accident caused traffic to be blocked through the morning on March 11 in the area near the stadium district on Martin Luther King. WOKV reports that the person who might have caused the accident did not stay at the scene.

Florida Highway Patrol reports that a witness indicated to Troopers that at approximately 5:40 a.m. on March 11, a car cut off another car on Martin Luther King by 8th Street. The second car swerved to avoid an accident, causing the driver of this car to lose control. The car then crashed into a light pole, rolled, and collided with a metal sign. The vehicle came to a rest on its roof, according to Troopers and WOKV. 

The driver of the first car did not stop but kept driving on Martin Luther King, according to the witness. Troopers stated that the witness was not able to provide information about the car expect that it was dark in color. The witness could not provide information about the driver.

WOKV states the driver of the second vehicle was seriously injured in the crash, and first responders took him to UF Health Jacksonville. Florida Highway Patrol identified him as a man from Jacksonville and said he was in critical condition. Troopers are continuing to investigate and searching for leads regarding the missing vehicle and driver.
