Drunk Driver Kills Paratrooper in Fayetteville, North Carolina
Woman Charged with Driving Under the Influence Following Motorcycle Accident, Killing a Paratrooper
Fayetteville, N.C. – according to a news report from abc11.com, a woman is in custody after killing a paratrooper on his motorcycle.*
The twenty four year old woman faces criminal charges of DUI related to the fatal accident. The accident occurred on Yadkin Road close to the Horseshoe Road intersection at approximately 3 a.m. Sunday.
The Fayetteville Police Department has identified the motorcyclist as a twenty two year old paratrooper from Fort Bragg. The decedent was part of the 2nd Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Abn. Division.
"[The decedent] dedicated the last three years of his life as an Airborne Infantrymen," said Col. Andrew O. Saslav, 1st Brigade Combat Team Commander. "His tragic loss will be felt by his family, friends and the entire Devil Brigade. He will be missed," said Saslav.
Accident investigators indicate that a male was operating a 2017 Toyota Carolla when the accident occurred. He was taken into custody and subsequently was released. The crash is the second fatal motorcycle accident in just twenty four hours in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
