Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Malabar Road in Pal Bay, Florida (FL)

Palm Bay Police Continue to Investigate Pedestrian Accident

Pal Bay, FL – According to, the Palm Bay are continuing to investigate a fatality involving a pedestrian who was hit on Saturday night on Malabar Road.*

An additional pedestrian sustained injuries but police do not know that individual’s status as of Sunday.  The accident occurred at about 10:00 p.m. Saturday at the 1100 block of Malabar Road, westerly of the I-95 interchange close to San Filippo Drive, per the police report.

This is the second fatality which involved a pedestrian in an accident occurred in a business heavy area in less than two weeks. In that incident, a man from Palm Bay is facing charges of manslaughter after local authorities stated that he was driving while impaired while attempting to pick up a pizza at a local restaurant. He hit two pedestrians on March 2, 2019. 

Both pedestrians in that accident were crossing at the intersection of Palm Bay Road and Riviera Drive.  The pedestrians were hit by a white 2006 Chevrolet driving by a forty year old man, per the report issued by police.

In the incident that occurred on Saturday night, police note that two people were hit by a car but only one of them survived. Malabar Road’s westerly lanes were temporarily closed as police conducted an investigation of the accident.  The driver and passenger in the vehicle that remains unidentified were also taken to an area hospital for treatment.  There is no further information available on their condition.  An investigation of the accident remains under investigation. 

In Florida pedestrian related accidents are on the rise, which, over one hundred thirty pedestrians dying on Florida roads during the first six months of 2018. That represents over a 30% increase compared to the first six months of 2017.
