Information Leads Authorities to Hit and Run Perpetrator Responsible for a Fatal Hit and Run Accident
Clayton, County, GA – according to a report from 11alive.com, the Clayton County Police Department have arrested a suspect involved in a fatal hit and run accident.*
Per 11alive.com, a suspect has been arrested who is suspected to have caused a fatal hit and run accident that killed a pedestrian, a 37 year old man. The accident occurred on Highway 138.
Police got an emergency call of a person struck by a silver Cadillac sedan on Saturday. The caller indicated that the driver hit the pedestrian yet failed to stop and render aid to the victim. In other words, the perpetrator caused a hit and run accident that injured and eventually killed the man. In essence, the man was left to succumb to his injuries on the roadway where he was struck, which is I-138 close to Jonesboro.The death of the victim has prompted a comprehensive investigation by the local police department’s Specialized Traffic Accident Reconstruction (or “STAR”) unit.
On March 6, a local resident called police indicating that a silver Cadillac was undergoing repairs at a home located less than 1 mile from the accident site. Following this tip, he perpetrator was taken into custody, where he admitted to causing the hit and run accident. As a result, he is currently being charged with homicide by vehicle and a hit and run causing the death of a victim, as well as failing to maintain lane.
According to AAA, more than one hit and run accident occurs in the United States every minute. Per statistics generated back in 2016, there were over 2,000 deaths associated with hit and run accidents. This was the highest number ever recorded in the U.S.
