Police Officer Injured in Vehicle Collision in Miami-Dade County, Florida
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FL. – According to an online news story reported by local10.com, a police officer was injured in a vehicle collision that happened in Miami-Dade County, Florida. The officer has not been identified, but Local 10 reports that he was treated at a local hospital and released. The cause of the collision has not been released at this time.*
The officer was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital after being involved in a crash while on his motorcycle on the Palmetto Expressway in Miami-Dade County, according to Local 10. The accident occurred on the evening of March 7, but it was not clear from the report what time it took place.
The officer was reportedly riding a motorcycle south on the Palmetto Expressway and somehow collided with a black Cadillac near the area of West Flagler Street. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crews responded to the scene and found that the officer was injured. Emergency responders transported him to the hospital for treatment. Officer Kenia Fallat with the Miami Police Department reported that the officer sustained minor scrapes and bruises in the collision.
Local 10 reports that the officer was treated for his injuries and had since been released. He was not identified in the Local 10 report. It appears he is on the force with the Miami Police Department. The driver of the Cadillac was also not named. The Local 10 report did not say whether this driver was injured.
Florida Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash, and Troopers have not released additional information. It is not clear how the crash happened.
