17-Year-Old Girl Killed in Motorcycle Crash in Fairview Shores, Florida
FAIRVIEW SHORES, FL. – According to an online news report posted at orlandosentinel.com, a 17-year-old girl was killed in a motorcycle crash in Fairview Shores, Florida. Florida Highway Patrol responded to the accident scene, and Troopers have reported that the other vehicle involved appears to have turned in front of the motorcycle.*
The teenager was riding on a motorcycle at approximately 7:15 p.m. on March 7 in Fairview Shores. Florida Highway Patrol and the Orlando Sentinel report that the teen was headed down West Fairbanks, when a Ford Explored turned into her path at Edgewater Drive.
Florida Highway Patrol spokesperson Lt. Kim Montes was reported to have said in the Orlando Sentinel that the driver of the Explorer was traveling east on West Fairbanks and turned left in front of the motorcycle. When Orange County Fire Rescue arrived at the scene, they found the teen pinned under the Explorer, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
She was critically injured, according to the Orlando Sentinel, and emergency crews took her to AdventHealth Orlando, where she died of her injuries. She was identified in the news report as a 17-year-old resident of Orlando.
The driver of the Explorer was identified as a 50-year-old woman from Orlando. She was not injured in the wreck, according to the Orlando Sentinel. It is not clear if anyone else was in the Explorer at the time of the wreck. The Orlando Sentinel report did not say whether charges were anticipated to be filed.
Florida Highway Patrol is still investigating the collision, and Troopers have not released additional information at this time.
