Police Make Arrest in Fatal Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash in Clayton County, GA

CLAYTON COUNTY, GA. – According to an online news report published by, police have made an arrest in connection with a fatal hit-and-run pedestrian crash in Clayton County, Georgia. The crash resulted in the death of a 37-year-old man, and the driver had been on the run since March 2.*

On March 2, the Clayton County Police Department received an emergency call regarding a pedestrian accident on Highway 138 in Clayton County. The caller said a silver Cadillac struck a pedestrian and left the scene. The pedestrian, a 37-year-old man, sustained critical injuries, according to 11 Alive, and died at a hospital. 

Following the collision and information provided by the 911 caller, the police department’s Specialized Traffic Accident Reconstruction unit launched an investigation to locate the Cadillac and the driver. They were working to make an arrest when they received another valuable tip.

On March 6, a person phoned the police department and stated that someone was making repairs to a silver Cadillac at a home near the site of the accident. The Specialized Traffic Accident Reconstruction unit followed up on the lead and went to the residence, which was less than one mile from the scene of the crash. Investigators were able to determine that the vehicle was involved in the pedestrian crash, and they arrested the owner. 

According to 11 Alive, the suspect, a 32-year-old man, admitted to officers that he was involved in the collision. The report from 11 Alive states that police booked the man into jail on charges of vehicular homicide, hit-and-run resulting in death, and failure to maintain a lane.
