One Killed, One Injured in Car Wreck in Apopka, Florida on March 6, 2019
APOPKA, FL. – According to an online report published by clickorlando.com, one person was killed, and another was injured in a single-vehicle wreck in Apopka, Florida. The vehicle reportedly caught on fire after the crash.*
The accident happened at approximately 3 p.m. on March 6, 2019 on Apopka Boulevard in Apopka. In the area of Sugar Pine Road, a white pickup truck reportedly traveled off Apopka Boulevard and somehow crashed. A spokesperson from the Apopka Police Department was quoted by ClickOrlando as saying that the truck hit a tree, and that the crash was severe.
Upon impact with the tree, the vehicle caught on fire, according to police. Officers were not yet sure how the crash occurred or what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway, according to the ClickOrlando report.
The Apopka Police Department and ClickOrlando report that one occupant of the pickup tragically sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was identified as a 22-year-old man from Apopka.
Another person in the truck was injured in the wreck, and first responders took him or her to Orlando Regional Medical Center for treatment. ClickOrlando reported that this person’s injuries were not considered life-threatening. His or her name was not released in the report.
Police officers wanted to remind drivers to be cautious in the wake of this tragic accident, the news report said.
“When you are driving, please be mindful,” said Apopka Police Department spokesperson Ashley Eller. “[You] never know that can occur in front of you, causing you to lose control. We want anyone traveling in our city to be safe.”
