Two Women Injured in Head-On Collision in Duke Field, Florida
DUKE FIELD, FL. – According to a news story reported online by nwfdailynews.com, two women were injured in a head-on collision that happened in Duke Field, Florida. Both women were driving the cars involved in the crash, and both have been identified by officials. Their injuries were reportedly minor in nature.*
The accident took place on the night of March 6, though the report from NWF did not state the time of the collision. Florida Highway Patrol reports that a vehicle was headed north on State Road 85 and was traveling in the inside lane. At the same time, another vehicle was traveling south on State Road 85 in the inside lane.
The makes and models of the vehicles were not included in the news report from NWF. Florida Highway Patrol stated that in the area of the highway near Special Forces Way, the northbound vehicle crashed head-on into the southbound vehicle. It appears the northbound vehicle crossed over into south traffic.
Florida Highway Patrol Troopers did not say why the crash happened, but they said that the northbound vehicle had nearly been involved in collisions with several other vehicles before this one occurred. Troopers did not say why these other collisions almost happened, either.
Both drivers were injured in the accident, and they were transported to Fort Walton Medical Center for treatment. NWF stated that their injuries were minor. The driver of the northbound vehicle was a 58-year-old woman from Crestview, Florida. The driver of the southbound vehicle was a 25-year-old woman from Crestview.
Officials shut down all of the southbound lanes of State Road 85 after the accident. Investigation is ongoing.
