Trucker Involved in Injury Crash in Polk County, Texas

POLK COUNTY, TX. – According to an online news story reported at, a Georgia trucker was involved in an injury-causing vehicle crash in Polk County, Texas. The driver of the other vehicle involved was airlifted away from the scene with injuries. Authorities did not disclose the cause of the accident in the report from KTRE.* 

The accident happened in the afternoon on March 5, 2019 and ended with a helicopter taking a 22-year-old driver to a nearby hospital with injuries. At about 1:40 p.m. that day, a 2004 Volvo tractor-trailer was traveling south on U.S. Highway 287 in Polk County, when a 2005 Nissan (model not reported) that was also headed south hit the back of the tractor-trailer. 

The report from KTRE stated that the Nissan collided with the left rear of the trailer. The reason for the collision is not clear. It occurred about two miles outside of Corrigan, Texas. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and found that the driver of the Nissan was injured. They called for a medical helicopter to airlift the man to a hospital in Conroe, Texas, for emergency treatment. 

The Nissan driver was identified as a 22-year-old man from Jasper, Texas. The driver of the tractor-trailer was identified as a 56-year-old man from Kingsland, Georgia. The extent of the Nissan driver’s injuries was not reported, nor was his current condition. The truck driver from Georgia was reportedly not injured. 

The Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the accident site and is handling the investigation. Investigation has not yet been completed, and no additional information was included in the KTRE report.
