One Killed, One Injured in Two-Car Crash in Marietta, Georgia
MARIETTA, GA. – According to an online news report published by cbs46.com, one person was killed, and another person was injured in a two-car crash in Marietta, Georgia. Police are stilesl investigating the accident, but officers have released identifying information about the victims of the crash.*
The accident occurred in the early morning on March 6 on South Cobb Drive in Marietta. The Marietta Police Department states that a white Kia Soul was traveling on South Cobb Parkway and traveled across the center lane of the roadway between Cobb Parkway and Fairground Street. The Kia then went into the opposite lane of travel, according to police, and struck an oncoming red Buick Lucerne.
Marietta police officers did not cite a cause for the accident in the CBS 46 article or any potential reasons why the driver of the Kia left the lane of travel. It is unclear which direction each vehicle was traveling on South Cobb Parkway before the accident happened.
The driver of the Buick suffered critical injuries in the accident, and CBS 46 reports that he died at the scene of the collision. Officials identified him as a 56-year-old resident of Marietta.
The driver of the Kia was seriously injured in the crash, according to CBS 46, and emergency responders transported this driver to WellStar Kennestone Hospital for medical treatment. This driver was identified as a 24-year-old resident of Marietta. Current medical status was not reported by CBS 46.
Police have not yet completed investigation of the accident, and no information about potential charges has been released.
