Driver Charged After Serious Hit-and-Run Motorcycle Crash in Paisley, Florida

PAISLEY, FL. – According to an online news report from, a driver has been charged for his involvement in a motorcycle crash in Paisley, Florida that left two people severely injured. The driver reportedly hit the motorcycle and left the scene.*

The accident happened on the evening of February 28 on County Road 42 in Paisley. Florida Highway Patrol and the Daily Commercial report that a Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling east on County Road 42, when a westbound Toyota van crossed the centerline of the road and struck the motorcycle.

The van did not stop and traveled away from the scene. According to Florida Highway Patrol and the news report from the Daily Commercial, the driver of the motorcycle lost a leg in the collision. A passenger on the motorcycle also reportedly sustained severe injuries to a leg, such that amputation was likely. Neither person has been identified. 

A witness at the scene provided enough information to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office that deputies were able to track the van and locate its driver. The driver is reportedly a 33-year-old man from Mexico who was living in Paisley. The Daily Commercial reports that he was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a crash with serious bodily injury, leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, and driving without a license. 

Troopers reported that during questioning, the driver stated that he had been looking down at his radio before the collision, and that he did not know what he hit. A court date for the driver was not reported.
