Family Questioning Circumstances of Fatal Collision in Miami Gardens, Florida

March 05, 2019

MIAMI GARDENS, FL. – According to a news article published online at, a family is questioning the circumstances of a fatal vehicle collision that happened in Miami Gardens, Florida. The family members believe that the accident that killed their loved one and his friend was part of a police chase.*

At approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 3rd, a vehicle T-boned another vehicle at the intersection of Northwest 175th Street and 39th Avenue in Miami Gardens. One of the men in the vehicle that was struck died at the scene, according to WSVN, and the other man in the vehicle was transported to Aventura Hospital, where he also died of his injuries.

The family members of one of the victims say they have video surveillance footage that shows the accident. According to the WSVN report, the video shows a vehicle that was driving without its headlights on run a stop sign at the intersection and crash into the second vehicle. Seconds later, a police vehicle comes into view with its lights flashing.

Family members say the video suggests that the officer who arrived first at the scene had been chasing the first vehicle prior to the crash.

“Was the vehicle actually being pursued?” asked the daughter of one of the victims. “And if they weren’t being pursued, how did a police officer arrive so fast at the scene? What [police] said was the car was not being pursued at the moment, which doesn’t coincide with the video that we have. It just doesn’t make sense.”

Miami Gardens Police, according to WSVN, have only stated that the incident is under investigation, and officers have not commented further at this time.
