Vehicle Crash in Fallston, North Carolina, Injures Nine People
FALLSTON, NC. – According to an online news story posted by wsoctv.com, a vehicle crash in Fallston, North Carolina, injured nine people. Seven of the people who sustained injuries were children. The crash occurred near an elementary school and involved two vehicles.*
The collision took place on the afternoon of February 28th, as school was letting out at Fallston Elementary School in Fallston, North Carolina. A truck and a passenger van reportedly collided in front of the school, sending the van off of the roadway. A photo from the scene shows the bright green van stooped in a grassy area off the road in some trees. The truck is not pictured.
The cause of the crash has not been reported, though the North Carolina Highway Patrol was reported as saying in the WSOC story that it appeared the driver of the truck failed to yield when turning out from the elementary school parking lot. The WSOC report states that North Carolina Troopers are still investigating, but that they indicated the driver of the truck, identified only as a woman, would likely be charged.
WSOC reports that six children were riding in the van at the time. These children and one additional child, who was assumedly riding in the truck, were transported to local hospitals for treatment of injuries. WSOC reported that their injuries ranged in seriousness from scrapes to a head injury.
Two adults were also reportedly injured in the wreck. No information about the nature of their injuries was reported, and it is not clear what vehicles they were traveling in.
