Storm Leads to Multiple Vehicle Accidents in Liberty County, Georgia
LIBERTY COUNTY, GA – According to an online news report from wsav.com, a storm that came through the southeast United States during the weekend of March 3rd caused multiple traffic accidents in Liberty County, Georgia. The reported accidents in Liberty County occurred because of debris from the storm.*
The National Weather Service Forecast Office in Charleston stated that several accidents were reported on March 3rd on Interstate 95 in Liberty County, according to WSAV. The accidents took place close to mile marker 70 on I-95 northbound.
Reports indicated that in one collision, a truck collided with storm debris, and in another, a camper turned over on the interstate. The report from WSAV said that the debris involved might have been a tree. It is not clear if the camper was also involved in a collision with some debris or if something else caused it to overturn. Information about injuries from these two accidents was not reported.
The National Weather Service Forecast Office also said that around 7 p.m., a motorcyclist collided with a fallen tree on I-95 North in Liberty County. WSAV reported that the motorcyclist was injured but that officials had not provided information about the extent of his or her injuries. It is not clear if the motorcyclist was taken to a hospital.
For some time, the fallen tree was blocking off part of the interstate. The Georgia Department of Transportation indicated that the tree was cleared following the last collision. No additional information was reported about any of the above accidents.
