Child Killed in Three-Vehicle Wreck in Murray County, Georgia

MURRAY COUNTY, GA. – According to a news story posted online at, a child was killed in a three-vehicle wreck in Murray County, Georgia. The child was only 7 years old and was a passenger in one of the vehicles involved in the crash.*

The report from News Channel 9 states that the crash happened on the morning of February 1 on Georgia Highway 225, near Grand Prix Boulevard in Murray County. The report states that three vehicles were involved in the collision, and that Georgia State Patrol is still investigating. No further information is contained in the report from News Channel 9. 

Another news report from provides more information on the collision. This report states that the crash happened on Chatsworth Highway at about 7:15 a.m. and involved a chain-reaction crash. The WRCB report says that a vehicle struck the back of a Nissan Versa by Grand Prix Boulevard, causing the Nissan to rear-end a Hyundai Elantra. 

Georgia State Patrol and WRCB indicated that the 7-year-old child was a passenger in the Nissan. Both news stories reported the child’s name, but that information is withheld from this story. 

It was not clear from either report whether anyone in the other two vehicles was injured or whether the driver of the Nissan was injured. The other vehicle occupants were not identified. 

The report from WRCB says the driver of the vehicle that hit the Nissan was 16 years old. Troopers stated that no charges had been filed against that driver, and that the investigation was ongoing. It is not yet clear what caused the initial rear-end collision.
