Pedestrian Dies After Struck by Vehicle in Collier County, Florida
COLLIER COUNTY, FL. – According to a news story reported online by fox4now.com, a pedestrian died from his injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Collier County, Florida. The pedestrian reportedly died at a hospital after being rushed there for emergency care following the accident.*
The accident happened on Vanderbilt Beach Road in Collier County. Florida Highway Patrol Troopers report that a 46-year-old resident of Naples, Florida, was crossing Vanderbilt Beach Road at this time, when he was struck by a vehicle.
It is not clear what direction the man was walking or what direction vehicles were traveling. Fox 4 reported that oncoming vehicles had stopped to let the man cross, but one vehicle did not stop and ended up hitting the man.
Fox 4 stated in its report that the man suffered critical injuries in the wreck, and an ambulance rushed him to a nearby hospital for treatment. Fox 4 reports that the man did not survive and was declared deceased at North Collier Hospital. The news report states that the man’s family members have been notified.
The Fox 4 report did not say whether the driver of the vehicle, a 24-year-old man, was injured or whether anyone else in the vehicle was injured in the accident. No description of the vehicle was reported.
