Naples Man Killed by Vehicle in Collier County, Florida
COLLIER COUNTY, FL. – According to an online news report published by nbc-2.com, a man from Naples, Florida, was killed in a vehicle collision on a road in Collier County, Florida. The accident occurred at an intersection in the county during the overnight hours. The vehicle driver does not currently face any charges, according to NBC 2.*
At approximately 1 a.m. on a Saturday, a pedestrian was attempting to cross the intersection of Vanderbilt Beach Road and Goodlette-Frank Road in Collier County. Florida Highway Patrol and NBC 2 report that the pedestrian was blocked by traffic on the inside lane of the roadway, but he continued walking across the road.
At some point while he was trying to cross, an oncoming vehicle struck the pedestrian. Troopers and NBC 2 state that the pedestrian was seriously injured in the collision, and emergency responders transported him to a local hospital. NBC 2 reports that he died at the hospital. He was identified in the report as a 46-year-old man from Naples.
Troopers identified the driver of the vehicle as a 24-year-old man from Naples. The make and model of the man’s vehicle were not included in reports. NBC 2 did not say whether the driver or anyone else in the vehicle was injured. The report states that no charges are currently filed against the driver.
Florida Highway Patrol’s investigation of the accident is ongoing. Troopers have reportedly ruled out alcohol as a factor in the accident, but they have not indicated any potential causes for the collision. No additional information was reported by NBC 2.
