Deputies Arrest Occupants of Car Outfitted with Lights, Siren in Cherokee County, Georgia
CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA. – According to an online news story published to wsbradio.com, deputies in Cherokee County, Georgia, arrested the occupants of a car that they pulled over and discovered was outfitted with emergency lights and a siren. The news report states that officers also found a firearm and drugs in the vehicle.*
Shortly before midnight deputies with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office performed a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling on Interstate 575 inside the county. In pulling the vehicle over, officers found that it was outfitted with white flashing lights and a siren, according to WSB News. The passenger in the car, a 26-year-old woman, told deputies that the car was her friend’s, and that she had borrowed it.
WSB News reports that officers found that the driver of the car, a 29-year-old man, was operating the vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. Officers searched the vehicle, according to WSB News, and found a firearm inside the car and methamphetamines inside the purse of the female passenger.
Deputies placed both the driver and the passenger under arrest, according to WSB News. The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department reported that while the female passenger was in the process of booking, deputies discovered she had more methamphetamines on her person.
WSB News and the sheriff’s department report that the driver was charged with driving with a suspended license, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and crossing county lines with a controlled substance. The news report did not identify the charges against the passenger. Both are being held in the Cherokee Adult Detention Center without bond, according to WSB News.
