Four Accidents Occur on Same Morning on I-75 in Houston County, Georgia

HOUSTON COUNTY, GA. – According to a news story reported online by, four vehicle accidents occurred on the same morning on Interstate 75 in Houston County, Georgia. It appears at least some of these occurred in relation to the first, in traffic that had become backed up due to the initial accident. One of the accidents resulted in a fatality.*

The vehicle crashes all took place on the morning of February 22 between the northbound exits of 134 and 136 on I-75 in Houston County. The first accident, according to WGXA, happened at around 9 a.m. that day and involved a tractor-trailer. It is not clear how this accident happened or how many vehicles were involved. 

Two additional accidents happened in the same area shortly after the first, according to the news report from WGXA. The third accident, which reportedly involved a tractor-trailer and a Jeep, resulted in a fatality. WGXA reports that one person died in this collision. The person’s name was not released. 

Before the end of the morning, a total of four vehicle wrecks had happened in this same stretch of I-75 North in Houston County, near Perry, Georgia. All of the northbound lanes were closed for some time while crews responded to all of the wrecks and cleared each accident scene.

Partway through the morning, the Georgia Department of Transportation posted a message on social media, saying, “Houston County update – There have now been three follow-up accidents behind the original accident involving a tractor trailer on I-75 NB just before GA 7 exit blocking all lanes. Estimated time of clearance – Now 11:30 a.m. Please drive alert, and seek alternate routes!”
