Two Teenagers Killed, Toddler Injured in Car Crash in Wayne County, Tennessee

February 27, 2019

WAYNE COUNTY, TN. – According to an online news story reported by timesdaily.com, two teenagers were killed, and a toddler was injured in a car crash in Wayne County, Tennessee. One adult was also injured in the wreck, which only involved one vehicle.*

A 2015 Dodge Charger was traveling north on Natchez Trace Parkway in Wayne County. Near mile marker 343, the Dodge ran off the roadway on the left side and crashed into a tree. The Times Daily report did not indicate what caused the driver of the car to leave the road.

The Times Daily reports that a passenger in the front seat of the Dodge — an 18-year-old resident of Prairie, Mississippi — and a passenger in the back seat — a 19-year-old girl from Okolona, Mississippi — were killed in the accident. Officials pronounced both teens deceased at the scene of the crash, according to the Times Daily.

In addition, the Times Daily report states that an 18-month-old child and the driver of the Dodge — a 21-year-old man from DeKalb, Mississippi — were injured in the accident. The Times Daily reports that they were both transported to North Alabama Medical Center for treatment. Their current conditions were not reported.

“This is the second and third fatalities we’ve had this week [on Natchez Trace Parkway], and this incident occurred only seven miles from the one we had on [February 17],” said Chief Parkway Ranger Sarah Davis. “Rangers have noticed an uptick in fatalities in the Alabama and Tennessee areas of the parkway. We do not know what is causing the spike, but rangers will be out on patrol to enforce the speed limit and other traffic laws.”
