Man Killed After Car Crashes into Tree in Jacksonville, Florida
JACKSONVILLE, FL. – According to an online news report published by wokv.com, a man was killed after his car ran off the road and crashed into a tree in Jacksonville, Florida. Florida Highway Patrol is handling the investigation and has not yet released information about what caused the single-vehicle wreck.*
The accident happened on the night of February 17, though it is not clear exactly what time that night. Florida Highway Patrol says a vehicle traveling on Town Center Boulevard in Jacksonville somehow left the roadway near Village Square Parkway. Upon traveling off the road, the vehicle struck a tree.
Troopers went to the scene of the accident and were not immediately able to tell what caused the collision or why the driver of the vehicle ran off the road. They do not yet know if alcohol or speeding played a role in the crash, and they did not identify any potential factors they might investigate in determining the cause of the collision. The vehicle description was not reported, so it is not clear what type of vehicle the man was driving.
Officials identified the driver as 24-year-old Mr. Watson II. Watson sustained critical injuries in the collision that he was not able to overcome. First responders pronounced him dead at the scene.
No vehicles other than Watson’s were involved in the wreck, and Troopers did not indicate that anyone else was riding in Watson’s vehicle at the time of the collision. Investigation into the accident is still ongoing, and Troopers have not yet released further information.
