Vehicle Hits, Injures Pedestrian in Jacksonville, Florida

JACKSONVILLE, FL. – A vehicle hit and injured a pedestrian in Jacksonville, Florida, according to a news report online from Police have not identified the pedestrian or the driver of the vehicle at this time. It is unclear if the driver will be charged.* 

The accident took place in the early morning on February 15 on Lenox Avenue in Murray Hill, Jacksonville. At the corner of Lenox Hill and South Edgewood Avenue, a pedestrian was attempting to walk across the roadway, and a passing motorist hit him. Authorities did not say if the pedestrian was in a crosswalk or if one was available. 

No information about the vehicle, like make and model, was reported. The driver reportedly stayed at the scene after the crash and talked to deputies with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. The driver, who has not been identified, is cooperating with the investigation. It’s not clear what caused the collision. 

The pedestrian was identified only as a 44-year-old man; Deputies did not releases his name. He was seriously injured in the collision, and an ambulance transported him to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. The man’s current medical status is not known. 

The homicide unit of the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded to the accident, and deputies are still investigating. They have not said whether the driver will face charges in connection with the collision. The sheriff’s office posted a message on social media after the accident asking drivers to avoid the area of the crash if possible as crews continued working at the scene.
