Dump Truck Overturns on Car in Dawson County, Georgia
DAWSON COUNTY, GA. – According to a news report posted online at wsbtv.com, a dump truck overturned onto a car in Dawson County, Georgia. It is not yet clear what caused the truck to turn over. Two people, who have not been identified, were reportedly injured and transported to a hospital.*
The accident happened sometime on February 18 at the intersection of Georgia Highway 400 and another Dawson County roadway. It is not clear from reports what the other road was; It was described only as a “major road.” A dump truck that was next to a passenger vehicle on the road somehow turned over and landed on the vehicle.
Authorities did not say how this happened or what might have caused the truck to turn onto its side. It is not clear if the two vehicles were moving at the time or were stopped. Photos from the scene show the truck still partially overturned next to what appears to be a dark-colored SUV. The dump truck seems to have been carrying a load of dirt or soil, which spilled onto the other vehicle and onto the roadway.
Two people were inside the passenger vehicle when the dump truck fell onto it, and both were injured. One person was immediately taken to a hospital by ambulance, but the second person was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be freed by emergency responders. The person was also then taken to a hospital.
Authorities did not describe the seriousness of the two people’s injuries and did not release their names. It does not seem that anyone in the dump truck was injured, and no one in the truck was identified, either. It’s not clear what company the truck was working for at the time.
