Woman Killed in Head-On Vehicle Collision in Ridgeland, South Carolina

BLUFFTON, SC. – According to an online news report published by, a woman was killed in a head-on vehicle collision that occurred in Ridgeland, South Carolina. Two other people were injured in the crash, the cause of which authorities have not yet determined.*

The crash occurred on Old House Road in Ridgeland. At about 6:30 p.m., a 2010 Mercedes Benz was traveling west on Old House Road. Near the intersection with Honey Hill Plantation, the Mercedes crossed over the middle line of the roadway and traveled into eastbound traffic. The Mercedes then crashed head-on into an eastbound 2013 Ford Focus.

The Ridgeland Police Department responded to the scene and has not yet identified a cause of the crash. It is unclear at this time what caused the Mercedes driver to leave his lane of travel. 

A passenger in the Mercedes, 27-year-old female from Ridgeland, was severely injured in the wreck, and emergency responders took her to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia. She was later pronounced dead at Memorial Health. 

The driver of the Mercedes is from Ridgeland, and the driver of the Ford, a man from Bluffton, were also injured in the collision. Ambulance crews transported both to nearby hospitals for treatment.

The Ridgeland Police Department is still investigating, and charges are pending.
