Three Injured in Dump Truck Crash in Union City, North Carolina
UNION CITY, NC. – Three people were injured in a dump truck crash in Union City, North Carolina, according to an online news story published at wsoctv.com. One of these people had to be airlifted from the scene. The injured persons have not been identified at this time, and officials have reported little about how the accident took place.*
The accident occurred late in the morning on February 13 on Lawyers Road in Union City. At about 11:30 a.m., a dump truck was traveling on Lawyers Road, and it somehow crashed near the area of Trail Fairview Road. No other vehicles were involved in the collision.
Photos from the scene suggest that the dump truck had been pulling a trailer that was carrying a front-end loader. The dump truck appears to have run off the left side of the road, after which it overturned in the grassy area on the edge of Lawyers Road. The dump truck is shown lying on its driver’s side.
The pictures from the scene also show that the trailer flipped over completely, and the front-loader came off the trailer and overturned. Reports did not provide any information about how the collision happened or what circumstances led up to the crash.
Authorities and emergency responders at the scene said three people sustained injuries in the wreck. These people were not identified, and the extent of their injuries was not reported. Two of the people were transported to a local hospital by ambulance, and one of the people was airlifted to a hospital by medical helicopter. No further information has been released at this time.
