Nine-Vehicle Wreck Results in Numerous Injuries in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama
TUSCALOOSA COUNTY, AL. – According to a news story reported online by wbrc.com, a nine-vehicle wreck resulted in injuries to numerous people in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. No fatalities have yet been reported. At least one semi-truck was involved, and the wreck took close to six hours to clear.*
The accident happened in the early morning on February 13 on Interstate 20/59 in Tuscaloosa County. Sometime before 7 a.m., a semi-truck and eight other vehicles collided near mile marker 86. The makes and models of the vehicles involved were not reported.
Alabama State Troopers arrived at the scene after the crash, and they reported that 10 people were injured. They did not say how seriously these people were injured, and they did not indicate how many people required emergency medical transport. Current conditions were not released, nor were the names of the people involved.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency says no one was killed in the accident. It is not clear, however, if anyone suffered life-threatening injuries. It is unclear at this time how the collision occurred. Troopers did not describe the nature of the crash and did not report on any of the events that led to the accident.
All of the northbound lanes of the interstate were shut down following the wreck between mile marker 86 and mile marker 89. Drivers on the interstate at that time were directed to exit at Vance/Brookwood. The wreck was not completely cleared until around noon that day.
Alabama State Troopers are still investigating the wreck, and they have not released further information. It is not known if any drivers will be charged.
