Head-On Crash in White County, Georgia, Results in Injuries to Four
WHITE COUNTY, GA. – According to a news story reported online by gainesvilletimes.com, a head-on vehicle crash in White County, Georgia, resulted in injuries to four people, one of whom was seriously injured. Charges are pending against the driver of the one of the vehicles, according to authorities.*
The accident took place on Georgia Highway 11 in White County. At approximately 6 p.m., a Toyota 4Runner was traveling south on Highway 11. Georgia State Patrol says the driver of the Toyota was traveling too closely behind the vehicle in front of it, and the Toyota driver ended up having to swerve to avoid rear-ending that vehicle.
The Toyota driver swerved left into the northbound lane of travel near Collins Road and then collided head-on with a northbound Chevrolet Cruze. The Toyota then spun off of the highway and rolled, coming to a rest on its roof. The other southbound vehicle in front of the Toyota was not involved in the wreck.
Two people inside the Chevy were injured, one of whom was seriously injured. The Chevy driver, 49-year-old Ms. McEntire of Clermont, Georgia, sustained minor injuries, while her passenger, 46-year-old Mr. McEntire, sustained serious injuries. Both were transported to an area hospital for treatment.
The driver of the Toyota, 24-year-old Mr. Gowan, of Clermont, and his passenger, 19-year-old Ms. Lucille White, of Clermont, sustained minor injuries in the crash. They are being treatment at a local hospital.
Georgia State Patrol is still completing its investigation of the accident, and Troopers say charges are pending against Gowan. They did not say what those charges might entail.
