Teenager Suffers Head Injury in Golf Cart Crash in Cohutta, Georgia
COHUTTA, GA. – According to an online news report posted at wrcbtv.com, a teenage girl suffered a serious head injury in a golf cart crash February 3 in Cohutta, Georgia. The girl is hospitalized and appears to be recovering, but it is not clear at this time if she will have any lasting injuries.*
At about 6:30 p.m., a golf cart carrying four teenagers crashed on Charolais Trail in Cohutta. It is not yet clear how the crash happened, but it appears the teen driving the cart lost control. The cart turned onto its side and slid before coming to a rest.
Three of the teens on the golf cart sustained minor injuries. The fourth teenager was ejected from the cart and suffered a serious head injury. Emergency crews took her to a nearby hospital. The teen, who is reportedly a sophomore at Northwest Whitfield High School, is making progress in her treatment, but the road ahead is still unclear.
Northwest Whitfield High School Principal Britt Adam said he found out about the wreck the night it happened.
“One of my teachers had heard and called me,” Adams said. “Nobody likes to get that phone call.”
Adams said the teen is an extremely good student and a valuable member of the high school’s golf team. He added that the community will support the student and her family through this difficult time.
“She is a little bundle of effort, and it’s great,” he said. “If we all had students like her, I wouldn’t have a job I don’t think. It’s still a critical time, but we’re more positive today than we [were] yesterday and just hope that continues on.”
