Driver Causes Fatal Collision While Fleeing Prior Accident in Bradenton, Florida
BRADENTON, FL. – A driver caused a fatal vehicle collision while fleeing the scene of a prior accident in Bradenton, Florida, according to an online news story reported by abcactionnews.com. An 18-year-old girl was killed in the crash, and several additional people, including three other teenagers, were injured.*
At approximately 11:30 p.m. on February 9, a vehicle was traveling west on 26th Avenue East in Bradenton. The driver of the vehicle, identified as 23-year-old Mr. Waters, had just caused a vehicle crash, the circumstances of which are not known, and he was fleeing the scene. Waters ran a red light at the intersection of 26th Avenue East and 27th Street East and crashed into another vehicle.
No descriptions of the vehicles were reported. The front driver’s side of Waters’s vehicle hit the front passenger’s side of the other vehicle. Waters’s vehicle then continued forward and crashed into a power box and a fence. The second vehicle rolled onto its side and collided with a power pole.
The driver of the second vehicle and a passenger in her vehicle, both 18 years old, were seriously injured in the wreck. Florida Highway Patrol says both were ejected during the collision. Troopers did not say whether they were wearing seat belts. The driver, Ms. Mobley, did not survive her injuries. The passenger, Ms. Laws, is in serious condition at Blake Medical Center.
Waters was also injured in the wreck and taken to Blake Medical Center. Charges are currently pending against him for the two collisions from that day. He is said to be in critical condition.
Two passengers in the vehicle with Waters were injured as well, and emergency responders transported them to Bayfront Medical Center for treatment.
