Man Killed in Single-Vehicle Wreck in Augusta, Georgia

February 16, 2019

AUGUSTA, GA. – An online news story from reports that a man was killed in a single-vehicle wreck in Augusta, Georgia. Officials have identified the victim, but they have not reported on the cause of the accident.*

At approximately 1 p.m., a Ford Mustang was traveling west on Hephzibah McBean Road in Augusta. In the 1300 block of the roadway, the driver of the Mustang reportedly lost control of the vehicle. The Mustang traveled into the eastbound lanes of the road, crossed those lanes, then left the roadway and struck several trees. The vehicle then traveled down an embankment and came to an uncontrolled rest.

At some point during the collision, the driver of the Mustang was ejected from the vehicle. Authorities did not say whether he was wearing a seat belt at the time. The driver suffered severe injuries and sadly did not survive.

The Richmond County Coroner’s Office identified the driver as 28-year-old David Sipp. Sipp’s city of residence was not reported. Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen said the cause of death was blunt force trauma, and no autopsy would be performed.

It does not appear any passengers were in the Mustang at the time of the accident. No other vehicles were involved, and no other injuries were reported.

Police are still investigating the crash, and they have not yet identified a cause. It is not clear why Sipp lost control of the vehicle, and officers have not reported on any potential causes. No additional information is available regarding the crash at this time.
