Truck Hits, Kills Man in Seminole County, Florida

SEMINOLE COUNTY, FL. – According to an online news story reported at orlandosentinel.com, a truck hit and killed a man in Seminole County, Florida. The circumstances of the crash are not completely clear, but reports state the man was walking a tricycle across an intersection when the truck ran into him.* 

The crash occurred on U.S. Highway 17-92. At about 5:20 p.m., a man was walking in a crosswalk, pushing a tricycle across the intersection of Fernwood Boulevard and U.S. Highway 17-92. At the same time, a truck was pulling out of a private driveway and onto U.S. Highway 17-92. 

The truck then hit the man. The incident occurred between Fern Park and Casselberry. The man sustained critical injuries, and officials pronounced him dead at the scene. His name has not been reported at this time. Officials have identified him only as a 58-year-old man. It is not clear why the man was pushing a tricycle or where he was going at the time. 

It does not appear the driver of the truck was injured. He has been identified as 27-year-old Toby Simpson, of Deltona, Florida. Authorities did not report whether Simpson was unable to see the man before the collision or whether he might have been distracted at the time. Authorities have not indicated any cause for the accident at this time. 

The crash is still under investigation. It is not yet clear if any charges will be filed. No additional information has been released.
