Driver Killed, Passenger Injured in Crash After Fleeing Officers in Wayne County, TN

WAYNE COUNTY, TN. – According to an online news report posted to, a driver was killed and a passenger injured January 30 in a vehicle crash after fleeing officers in Wayne County, Tennessee. The circumstances of the accident are not entirely clear at this time, but officials have identified both victims.* 

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office was pursuing a 2012 Ford Focus southbound on Big Cypress Road in Wayne County. It is not clear what events took place before the chase or what initiated the chase. Near the area of Natchez Trace Parkway, the Focus ran off the roadway and crashed into a ditch. 

The Focus then rolled several times and struck a utility pole. Reports did not indicate how fast the Focus was traveling at the time it left the roadway, and it is not clear how long the pursuit had lasted to that point. 

The driver of the Focus was ejected from the vehicle and suffered severe injuries. She did not survive. Authorities said she was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. Officials identified her as 31-year-old Alishia Risner. Risner’s city of residence was not reported. 

A passenger in the Focus, identified as Krysten Mitchell (age and city not reported), was also not wearing a seat belt during the crash and was ejected from the vehicle. Mitchell sustained unknown injuries. It is not clear if she required medical transport from the scene, and her current medical condition has not been reported. Authorities reportedly cited Mitchell for a seat belt violation.
