Three Separate Accidents Occur on Same Road in Valdosta, Georgia
VALDOSTA, GA. – An online news story from unionrecorder.com reports that three separate vehicle accidents occurred on January 29 on the same road in Valdosta, Georgia. The accidents all happened within an hour at a section of North Valdosta Road that is currently under construction.*
At approximately 7:30 a.m., two vehicles collided on North Valdosta Road at Coleman Road. One vehicle was attempting to turn left onto Coleman Road from North Valdosta, and another vehicle struck it from the side. The first vehicle then flipped onto its side. The driver of this vehicle was transported to a local hospital, but Georgia State Patrol said he or she was not seriously injured.
Sometime before 8:30 a.m., another accident occurred near the same intersection on North Valdosta Road. Troopers said this accident was a three-vehicle fender bender, caused by one vehicle following another too closely. Again, one driver was transported to the hospital, but this person’s injuries were not serious.
Around 8:30 a.m., a third accident happened at the same location, and this accident was related to the second. Georgia State Patrol says a person was driving by the scene of the second accident and became distracted while looking over at the cleanup efforts. This person then collided with another vehicle.
“There were no major injuries following these accidents, but the best thing to remind people is that if you are driving down the road, and you see blue lights, please pay attention to the road,” said Cpl. Ryan Harding, of the Georgia State Patrol. “Paying attention to anything other than the road dramatically increases your chances for a collision.”
No one involved in the accidents has been identified. Harding said the construction on North Valdosta Road increases the risk of vehicle accidents, so drivers need to be particularly careful.
